September Already?

Wow I can't believe that summer is over and here we are at Labor Day weekend. The summer flew by and it sure was a hot one! Now the cooler temps have rolled in and it's time to think about back to school, fall festivils and fall stitching. I have done just that. I have started a new project called Quaker Halloween Sampler by Cherished Stitches. I am using the colors called for, but I have also added a couple of my own, a yellow and a orange.

I also had another finish in the month of August. It was Joyful Summer by Country Cottage Needleworks. I love the bright colors of it and it does indeed make you feel joyful!

Another post so soon!

I have another finish! This afternoon I finished stitching Blackbird's Bird In Hand.

Today is my daughter's 35th birthday! Happy Birthday Jennifer! She lives in Arizona, so don't know when we will be together again, but wanted to wish her a HB today!

Since my grandkids start school next week and we haven't seen or spent a lot of time with them this summer we are going to pick them up on Sunday and have them for a few days next week while we are on vacation. They start school on Wednesday, so I guess we will take them home on Tues. which will be my husband's birthday! We will have to find something fun to do with them on Monday.

It's beem a long time since my last post. I just don't seem to have the time to blog like a lot of others do.
Since I have last blogged we have been on 3 vacations. In March we went to Arizona and visited with our DD and her finace. While there I got to visit The Attic cross stitch shop that is near her. In April I went to a stitching retreat in Branson. It is always the best time! In July DH and I vacationed in Branson again where it was very, very hot! We saw Noah the Musical and I of course visited Cecilia's Samplers while I was there.
Next week we are on vacation again, but as of now we have no plans.
My picture is Country Cottage Needleworks Liberty Lane. I took it with me in April and worked on it at the retreat. I think it is that latest finish for me even though I didn't finish it for several months after that.
My grandchildren are preparing to start school again. This summer sure did fly by. Nicholas is 8 and will be starting 3rd grade, Emily is 5 and is going to Kindergarten and Ashley who is 3 will be going to preschool.
Maybe it won't be so long in between my next post!

Picture

Here is my first finish of the New Year. Small Token by Blackbird designs.

Another Tuesday

Happy Belated Valentines Day to all! Hope you got lots of chocolates, flowers and a nice dinner out!

My DH had to work that evening, so we haven't celebrated Valentine's Day, or my birthday which was last week also. I did receive a nice strawberry cream cake on my birthday and a dozen roses on Valentine's Day, so I was forgotten.

I did have a finish last night while watching the Olympics. I finshed up Blackbird's Small Token. It took me about a week to stitch it after having to frog the same area a couple of times. I finally left that part until last and it finally worked out. I need to take a picture so I can post it.

We still have snow on the ground and are expected to get more on Friday. I can't wait until the end of the month so I can visit DD where it is much warmer and no snow! I shouldn't complaint because I know others have a lot more snow than we do, but enough already!

My oldest grandchild, Nicholas will be 8 on Sunday. I can't beleive he is over 5! Time sure does go by fast once you get older. LOL We will be going to visit to celebrate his birthday.

Hope that all are well and warm whereever you are.

Sunday

Sunday, a day off and a day to catch up on the home front chores. I also usually find some time to stitch. :)))) Today I stitched on This Is The Day by Hands To Work which is in an issue of Just Cross Stich magazine. I scanned a picture of it a few days ago and shall include it. Today I finished up the end of the house and started on the main body of it.

Today I uploaded 5 new albums to the IPod. Need to get it ready to go for vacation. I also purchased some books for the Kindle, so I will have something to read on vacation. I am trying to plan ahead, so that I will be ready and not do everything at the last minute. I looked through some stitching WIP today, trying to decide what I should take, so if I have some down time on vacation I will have something with me to stitch on. I do remember I didn't get much stitching time in the last time we visited, but I still want to have at least one project with me, just in case. Have to be prepared!

Hope everyone had a great day today!

It's Tuesday

Today we have had some weird weather. I woke up to some snow flurries and a little snow on the ground. Now the sun is shining! Something we haven't seen in a while around these parts.

I am looking forward to visiting my daughter in AZ where I know the weather is better. We are planning a trip, leaving the last of Feb and staying a week, which will put us back in MO the first weekend in March. I plan on visiting The Attic a cross stitch store in Mesa while I am there and I bet they will have all kinds of goodies fresh from Market. I better save my pennies to spend! It will be my first vacation of 2010. I get 5 weeks this year and hope to enjoy everyone of them. In April I will be returning to Branson for the Spring retreat at Cecilias' stitching shop. We have a nice group from the St. Louis area that will be going, so I know it will be a great time!

I have been trying to not start any new stitching projects until I finish up some of the many that I have started. I have worked all month on Rachael Holmes 1842 until a few days ago. I pulled out This Is The Day which is a sampler from a JCS magazine. It's a nice change from the Rachael piece. The colors are brighter and no specialty stitches except for the over one part. Hopefully I can stick to my plans on finishing some works in progress before I get the bug to start something new.

Snow

Today they are calling for 3-6 inches of snow, so of course that means that everyone has to run to the grocery store and stock up! Which means we were really busy at work today. We called in anybody that we could get to come in and that still wasn't enough people.

The roads are covered and I have heard the snow plows on Hwy K behind my house. Looks like the weather guys were right this time! LOL

Too bad I have to go to work again tomorrow. I would love to be able to just stay indoors and enjoy a snow day, but hopefully the roads will be cleared by the time I go to work in the afternoon.

Stay snug and warm because winter is here!

Saturday

Had to work today and it was a slow and long day. Made a couple of stops on my way home after work. I went to Michaels to look for some yarn to knit a scarf, but they didn't have the color I was looking for. It was really picked over. I guess since it has been so cold that everyone is in the mood to do some knitting and crocheting.

The funniness thing happened after I got home. I have remote start on my car and I was walking out to the mailbox to check the mail and all of a sudden my car starts. I thought I had accidently hit the button and turned it on. So I get in and turn it off and close the garage door and go in the house. It did it again. I had the keys laying flat on the table, nothing was touching them or near them. LOL I go out again and turn off the car. When it happened a third time, I was really getting aggravated thinking I am not going to go out into the cold garage and keep turning off my car all night long, so I went to the neighbors and he took the battery out of the remote and that fixed that! Need to find out what the problem is and why this keeps happening on it's own.

It has really turned cold here and so I don't think I am going to go out tomorrow at all. I will stay in and keep warm and toasty. Will spend some time stitching, reading, etc. Nice time of the year to do some indoor crafts, read and catch up on TV or some movies.

Have a great weekend!

New Year's Day

I can't beleive that it has been almost a whole year since I have posted to my blog.
Sorry I have been such a slacker. LOL
I would like to wish everyone a healthy, happy New Year! Hope that 2010 is everything that you want it to be. Hopefully it will be a fresh start for us all.

For Christmas I got a Kindle-ereader. It will be so nice when going on a trip or vacation to take one small device instead of several books to read. So far I have read one book and I am now reading my second book. I have been spending a lot of time on Amazon.com looking for what books are available to download. DH also gifted me with a gift card, so now I just have to decide on what books to buy.

Christmas was kind of quiet at our house this year. It was DD's year to have Christmas with her finace's family and my DS's family went to VA to visit his wife's family. We enjoyed a great time with my side of the family at my Mom and Dad's on Christmas Day and then celebrated with the kids on Monday, Dec. 28th when they returned.

Hope that all of you had a great Christmas with family and friends.
