2012 WIPocalypse update

Just a quick note to say that I started this on New Year's Day-Blackbird Christmas Garden. This is my progress so far. I am really enjoying stitching on this piece. I think the colors are great and I am doing it on 34ct Oaten Scone Legacy linen with one strand. I think it has an antique look about it.

Happy New Year

Here it is another new year-2012-that's twenty twelve. Hope that the new year brings you happiness, peace and blessings!
They say whatever you do on the first day of the year will reflect on what you do for the whole year, well mine was spent watching football, stitching, doing laundry and putting away the Christmas decorations.

Today being the start of a new year I started a new cross stitch piece! I am stitching on Blackbird's Christmas Garden. I am doing it on 34ct Oaten Scone Legacy linen with 1 strand of floss. I think the colors used and the one strand make it look antique and I like the look of it so far. It is on my 2012 Challenge list so I hope to have it be one of my completions this year.

Hope you started your New Year doing something you enjoy!

This and That

Well as you can see from my last post, it has been a long time since I have blogged!
I will try to do better next year, but life just gets in the way.

I have signed up to do a 2012 challenge. It is 2012 WIPocalypse. Since I have finished 10 or 11 projects this year I should be able to do 12 next year. You can switch up your list through out the year, so I won't be expected to only work on the list that I come up with in the beginning. I think this is doable.

Right now I am working on a Workbasket design called Faith, Hope and Love. I am doing it on 40ct lakeside linen. First time working on 40ct and I am really happy with it so far. I have posted a picture even though it's not a very good one.

Hope everyone has a great holiday season. Peace and Joy to all!

Blizzard over

Yesterday we were under a Blizzard warning. Most county and city offices were closed, schools were cancelled, hockey game was cancelled (first time this ever happened), national guard was called out, grocery stores closed early (first time for this too)and highways were shut down. Where I live only got 4 inches of sleet and snow. Farther west they did get a lot more snow, but I guess you can say we were lucky. I of course was hoping for a snow day so I could stay home another day and stitch! LOL But that didn't happen. I had to go to work today.

Now the temps are dropping and it's supposed to be in the negative numbers tomorrow for the first time since 1999.

I have been noticing my car has been slower and slower to start lately so today when I came out from work it didn't turn over the first time. Yikes! I want to go home. It did start the next time, but I was worried. I came home and parked in front of the house so I could shovel some snow at the end of the driveway where they had plowed and piled it up. I knew my car wasn't going to make it over it since I almost got stuck when I left for work this morning. Well I start shoveling and all of a sudden someone honks and a truck with a plow on the front that was at the neighbors comes over and plows my driveway. I was thankful for the help! Then my car almost didn't start for me to pull it into the garage. Looks like DH will have to go out in the morning and get me a new battery for the car. I have gotten my money's worth out of this one since I haven't replaced it since I have owned the car and I bought it new in 2003.

Hope everyone is snug and warm!

Winter Storm

We are expecting a winter storm starting overnight tonight through Wednesday. If only I didn't live within 2 miles of where I work. I will be expected to be there for sure. I am hoping that everyone has hit the store today and stocked up so that those who can't make it can stay home and be safe. At least I am off on Tuesday and hope to miss some of it.

I have been stitching on Ink Circles Winter Mandala most of the month and have made great progress on it, but I am ready to be done with it and move on to the next project. I will include a picture of it, but it's really wrinkled from stitching.

I also have a scan of my first finish of the year. Again it's not that good a picture, but you get the idea.

Hope all of you out there in blog land stay safe and I hope that I get to watch the storm from inside and spend time stitching and reading.

First Finish of the New Year

I did manage to finish up LHN Winter Sampler this evening. Now it's on to see what I will work on next.
When I tried to upload a picture of my finish I couldn't get it to work, so I will have to try and post a picture of it at another time.
It's really fun seeing what all everyone is trying to accomplish this year with their 2011 stitching goals. I will be glad to just finish up a few of my UFO's and have some finishes this year.

Happy New Year

I really don't know why I have a blog since I never seem to post on it and when I do I get rude people who make rude comments on in. I don't pretend to be a writer, I just share my thoughts for those who want to read and if you aren't interested then don't read it!

Some of us in my LK Loopers group has decided to start off 2011 with a challenge. We have made a list of 15 UFO's that we are going to try to finish up this year. I know I probably won't stick to it once new things come along that I will want to stitch, but if I even get 5 of them done I will feel like I have accomplished something.

I started off with stitching on LHN Winter Sampler and at the rate I am going I should have it finished in the first week! Then it will be on to the next one. I also added to the list a project that I want to start as soon as my supplies arrive. Even though it's not a UFO, I want to spend time on it this year.

Hope all you out there in blog land have a healthy and happy 2011.
